Nightseer is very intersting, and the book arrive very promply. It is a pleasure ordering from Amazon.com.Ruth Riddle
It stands alone as is but the story line is so interesting you want to know more. What makes this book so interesting is it belongs in a list of Magic and Wizard fantasy books with authors of high ranking like R.A.Salvatore,Margaret Weis & Piers Anthony. If you go into this book expecting what you read in her Anita Blake and Merry Gentry series you wont find anything like her two main series. This book is incredibly well written. You want the story to continue; you need it to.I read this book years ago when her Anita Blake series was 5-6 books into it and i have been hoping since that she would pick up where this one left off. Enough reviews are listed here explaining about the story line so their is no need to expand on that. Just wanted to get the point across that this is in a special class of its own.Read and enjoy.
I Have to say that this is one of her best books that i have read. I was reading the other reveiws and they are all comparing this book the anita Blake series. her short stories in "strange Candy" are preety good to. DONT. this book came out before she wrote that series. But if you do pick up "NightSeer" dont expect it to be like her other books. Its better.
I purchased this book because I've read and loved everything I've seen by Laurell. The book was kind of slow going in the beginning for me and I was wondering if I was going to like it at all, but by the end I couldn't put it down and was begging for a sequel. I even sent a message to the author asking her if she was planning on writing one.
After reading a few of L. Hamilton book to read, don't start with this one. They keep getting lost and forgotten by the writer in the middle of the many and confusing action scenes.
I read it to the very end, but it was all so awfully confusing that I found myself skiping descriptions and looking for the dialog, as well as doing some major diagonal reading. It's all reduced to a sequence of doom premonition, battle, magic healing, battle, magic healing. Hamilton's books, I decided to pick up Nightseer on a suny winter afternoon.I shouldn't have.
The book is JUST about action. I missed the last scene of the final battle, and didn't care to go back to re-read it.The story is fairly simple and it has potential, but the way in which it was narrated just kills it. The characters have no depth, no real feel.
and on and on and on.It almost feels like good descriptions and character development are treated as a waste of time, ink and paper compared to the blood and gore.If you're looking for a L. And if you like this author, although this was her first published novel, it might be a bad idea to read it.
